“That’s not a policy. That’s an industry.”

Great post Mark, thank you.

Another "of course," written with stinging clarity. What stays in my mind, in an overview of our situation, is the seeming urgency, from the resources just thrown at it, of ridding ourselves of criminals who are in residence, at the same time as Trump can't be fast enough to pardon the criminals that are in custody. It's America as Keystone Kops movie, or like the great French farce, "A Flea in Her Ear," that I saw in London years ago with the great Albert Finney, which was constructed around a madcap exiting by one character at the same time as there was an entrance by another character in an ongoing mix-up of who was what.

My son in law is a hard working, skilled craftsman who has a small restoration business and one employee. He works his ass off to take care of my daughter and my grandchildren. He loves me. I love him like he was my own.

He is Vietnamese. His father fought with the American forces and spent ten years in a prison camp for his efforts. Once he was released, he brought his family to the US as refugees. Then he died, leaving his young son to fend for himself in a foreign country.

When my son was twenty he did some stupid things. Shoplifting, and breaking into a friend’s house to get his PlayStation back. Three misdemeanor became a felony and he spent a year in federal prison while immigration tried to figure out what to do with him. Because of his special status, he couldn’t be deported back to Vietnam. However, the only way he could be released from prison was to sign his deportation papers.

For over twenty years he has worked within the system, applying for and receiving a work permit and checking in as required. He pays his taxes. He paid his child support faithfully for eighteen years although the mother of his children wouldn’t let him see them.

He has to check in next month. We have no idea what to expect. This is a real story. This is my family. What is happening is insanity, and it is time for We The People to get pissed off enough to do something. I will begin with writing to my senators and representatives.

And if necessary, I will leave the country. My family is more important.

Very well written. I read the Constitution just a few days ago. And I counted 27 grievances described in it. Trump has blown through 20 of them already.

There is a real danger that this has already gone too far. Will we be able to undo what he has done? Or will this turn into another Civil War? I fear the latter. Especially if the military, our military, is so brainwashed that they fire upon citizens.

I remember when MacArthur Park was a poetic and moving ballad sung by, not a great voice, but a voice full of longing. Please sir, I want to go back....
