I just spent time with a close friend who grew up in New Jersey, talking about her three siblings and her mother, who are devout Trumpers. They are educated, happy, and successful. How can this be? For whatever insight this offers, she says they dismiss our positions by attributing them all to being conspiracies. By the by, back in the day I was great at blackjack. No deception but card counting. It wouldn’t take long after I sat down at a table in Vegas before they’d bring in a four-deck shoe or the dealer would hide cards when he or she busted. I asked a pit boss why, since I was far from being a big better, they were harassing me. He said it was because I was taking the seat away from a potential loser!
