The flag I will fly this 4th of July is black, with two blue stripes, one on either side of a white stripe in the center. It's called a mourning flag, to signal the loss of a dear one, presumably to war. And this is a war, of right vs wrong, good vs evil, and the one under threat of death, or already lost, is every one of us.
The further we sink into depravity, the more of us who are in pain there are. We just haven't gotten ourselves organized. Thinking about where a political party's vision comes from, I don't think it's "the party." I've always voted Democrat, but that's all. There isn't anything else here in L.A. to belong to where my voice could blend with others. Vision, I think, comes from charismatic leaders. Like a Roosevelt.
How would the party organize itself when we don't have a single hero to helm us? How about our most heroic figures -- our Corey Bookers, our Adam Schiffs, our AOCs, our Jamie Raskins, you know, those sorts -- designating themselves as a Committee for the Good to come up with something we all can get behind?

“Organize, not just around ideas, but around targets.” Exactly right Mark. Thank you for another terrific post.
